Phillip Moore to be buried at Auchlyne today

NATIONAL iconic sculptor, Phillip More, is to be laid to rest today, in the Auchlyne Presbyterian Church ground, Corentyne, East Berbice, next to his wife, Mrs. Eulan Moore. Spokesman for the Moore family, Mr. Winston Moore, yesterday said that the viewing of the late sculptor’s body will be done at the Liverpool Community Centre, East Berbice, beginning at 13:00 hrs. This will be followed by a Thanksgiving service at the same venue.
Meanwhile, Moore’s body which was earlier at the Ramu’s Funeral Home, Rose Hall, was yesterday anointed according to Jordanite rites, after being embalmed at Merriman’s Funeral Parlour.
Phillip Moore died on Sunday May 13, at his Lancaster home, Corentyne Berbice, following a period of illness. He was 90.
Moore, an internally acclaimed artist and sculptor, is best known for the 1763 Monument which stands at the Square of the Revolution.
