ONE week after photographer Delano Williams was freed of causing death by dangerous driving and drunken driving, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has appealed the decision. Stabroek News(SN) was reliably informed that on Wednesday the DPP filed a Notice of Appeal at the registry of the High Court and copies were later served on Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and Williams.
In the Appeal Notice, SN was told that the DPP is asking that the Court of Appeal set aside or reverse the magistrate’s decision to dismiss the charges.
What about the lady entertainer who drove her car in a reckless manner causing death, but was granted bail because she had some important work to take care of at Lethem?
Will she be brought to justice in a timely fashion so that those who suffered grief of their loved one can get some sense of justice?
What about Ms Mangar’s death by a motorist who robbed her then ran her over causing her to die as if she was not a human?
What about the investigating officer who was supposed to take the DNA to Barbados but did not?
Something is not right in this case since many Guyanese believe that the police know exactly who is Ms Mangar’s killer and is most likely connected to someone or some people in the justice system in Guyana.
How many times Guyanese read that people are charged for crimes only to have their case jackets leave the DPP’s office for court but arrived with no case file or missing names?
Most Guyanese are on to this scam that is plaguing the justice system in Guyana.
Absolutely nothing was done to a prominent lawyer who removed a tape recording from a gas station where the gas bar owner was murdered in Buxton.
This very lawyer is making rings around DPP officials after that in all his court proceedings.
Again I ask how can some killers plead to the lesser count of manslaughter and receive only eight years while the other day a young killer was sentenced to 20 years for rape and murder despite pleading to a lesser count.
Is this young killer/rapist now the poster boy for the justice system?
I do not know much about the Laws of Guyana or anywhere for that matter, but I can say that something is terribly wrong with the justice system in Guyana and getting justice for some citizens of Guyana.
Something is terribly wrong with the justice system in Guyana
