How can people with so many consumer items be classified as poor?

LURLENE Nestor is a political activist, who commonly writes letters castigating the Peoples Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) for the lack of development in Guyana. As a political activist, Lurlene Nestor must have some education about the development taking place in Guyana. AS I am not in Guyana, I would like to ask Lurlene Nestor to educate me about the state of development of Linden.

What does it matter whether NCN have rights to broadcast in Linden or not, since people in Linden are supposed to be so poor that they do not have television. Or, do they have many televisions which means they’ve got money?
How come people in Linden have so many cell phones yet people who have been planting rice cannot even afford a cell phone yet alone run one?
Lurlene Nestor, does Linden have more cars per person than many other communities in Guyana where people have been working for generations yet cannot afford cars?
What about computers, and nice clothes? Are Lindeners wearing fancy dresses? Do they have computers?
How can people in Linden afford electricity, telephones, etc when it is said that Linden is a depressed community?

Please educate me Lurlene Nestor. What exactly is the case? Lindeners are so poor that they do not have fancy clothes, cars, cell phones, TVs, computers, etc, nor can they afford these things hence they are not a depressed community?

Obviously, something is wrong here Lurlene Nestor. How can people who have so many consumer items be classified as poor?
