I NOTE with concern the Guyana Chronicle article (May 18, 2012) headlined, ‘NCN switching to Digicel’ and the attribution of statements made by me as the CEO of NCN on a face book page. I do not have a face book account. Such statements, therefore, can only be regarded as mis-information garnered through the informal social media by anonymous persons.
Logic would dictate that NCN cannot switch to Digicel as we have multiple land and cell numbers and an extensive PABX system which is totally dependent on GT&T.
The fact is that NCN enjoys a partnership arrangement with GT&T that predates Mr. Yog Mahadeo’s appointment and we have continued to collaborate with GT&T under his stewardship.
Unfortunately, like GT&T, we are caught in the turbulence of a changing commercial environment which compels us to put cost recovery at the forefront of our corporate thinking and we were unable to reach agreement for the broadcast of one event recently.
This does not mean that we have forgotten our long and mutually beneficial relationship, as the partnerships we build with the corporate sector goes a long way towards the accomplishment of our goals.
We are committed to moving these relationships forward with mutual respect and consideration for the welfare of all concerned.
