Independence Inter-Secondary School Futsal tournament

THE National Secondary Schools Futsal Committee will on May 26 (Independence Day) organise a one-day Inter-Secondary School four-a-side Futsal competition at the Charlestown Secondary School hard court from 0830hrs. The tournament is organised by the Holy Family Sports Incorporated and will see the winning school receive the championship cup, $50 000 and medals while the MVP will receive a mountain bike, sponsored by Giftland OfficeMax.
“Students who gain 65% and over attendance in the Easter Term will also receive special prizes, as the aim is to encourage attendance at school by these students along with their academic performance while participating in extra curricula activities.
“Our Bible Club is also promoting ‘Keep Our City Very Clean’ and ‘Stop the Violence in our Country Now and Forever’ with talks during our tournament,” the organisars said in a release.
“Interested schools can call Ms Tracey on 658-2666 to register. There is need for more business partners to come on board for the big event with some cash, as we celebrate Independence anniversary under the theme: ‘Playing for Jesus’.
“The organisers are from a group of churches and are under 18 years of age. We come together every Wednesday and Saturday to study the Bible and also teach what we know to other youths and families. We also visit house to house to take the good news as we strive to change the behaviour patterns of our youths for the best.”
