DELMUR Company and the New Building Society Limited (NBS) have endorsed the Independence t20 Cup, a joint fund-raising venture by the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) and the Berbice Chambers of Commerce and Development. Director of Delmur Company, Colin Elcock, expressed his confidence in the two charitable organisations involved in this tournament, saying that it is important to give back to the community and help to make a difference in the lives of our people.
With that in mind and the good work done by the BCB and BCC over the years, he thought it fitting to make a contribution, while expressing his pleasure that the proceeds from this event will go towards charity.
Mrs Subrena Budhoo of NBS said that her employer has over the years contributed significantly to charity, education and sports.
She reminded the gathering that only recently the NBS, in partnership with the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA), launched a second division cricket competition in Georgetown to add to the ones in Berbice and Essequibo, adding that NBS has faith in BCB and is pleased with the manner they conduct their business.
The tournament is billed for the historic Albion Sports Complex next Saturday and promises to provide quality entertainment for all patrons.
It forms part of the celebrations to mark Guyana’s 46th Independence Anniversary and players such as discarded West Indies Test spinner Devendra Bishoo, Veerasammy Permaul, Jonathan Foo, Andre Percival, Gajanand Singh, Paul Wintz, Rajiv Ivan, Sewnarine Chattergoon, Richard Ramdeen, Chris Barnwell and others will vie for cash prizes of over one million dollars.
Four exciting teams, Universal DVD Berbice Titans to be led by Veerasammy Permaul, Karibee Rice Tigers who will have Shawn Pereira at their helm, the Tyrell Tull-led Hits and Jams Superstars and Singh’s New Line Cavaliers will battle for supremacy.

The first match commences at 11:00hrs with two games being played in the day, followed by a cultural ceremony and the final under lights.
