THE Marian Academy (MA) badminton team defeated their Queen’s College (QC) counterparts 3-2 to win the Friendly Team tournament which was played off at the former’s court last Tuesday. The visitors were welcomed to the venue by Marian Academy’s Sports Co-ordinator Chris Bowman, following which the competition got under way.
Below are the results of the tournament:
Boys Singles: Narayan Ramdhani (MA) trounced Cecil Abrams (QC) 21-4, Girls Singles: Priyanna Ramdhani (MA) bettered Varsha Boodram (QC) 21-17, Boys Doubles: Cecil Abrams and Omari Joseph (QC) thrashed Jonathan Mangra and Ronald Chang Yuen (MA) 21-11.
Girls Doubles: Ambika Ramraj and Nadine Jairam (QC) got the better of Meshonn Persaud and Angelica Da Silva 21-14 and in the Mixed Doubles, Narayan and Priyanna Ramdhani (MA) beat Joseph and Ramraj 21-12.
Another set of matches between the two schools will be played next week at the Queen’s College courts, where the home team will be looking to turn the tables on the visitors.
