TWO men were remanded to prison yesterday, on a joint charge of stealing 120 feet of cable belonging to Guyana Telephone & Telegraph Company (GT&T). Roy Ali and Raymond Samaroo (no addresses given) appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton, charged, indictably, with committing the offence on May 14.
The property value was stated as $300,000.
The magistrate enquired from the accused if they would like to be granted bail but both men said they have no one to lodge surety for them.
Police Corporal Simone Payne, prosecuting, succeeded in her application to have the men sent on remand until today.
