WITH the aim to eradicate insularity amongst its cricketers, the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) has issued a stern warning to those players who leave these shores unannounced and without permission, especially during the Ancient County’s season. To this effect, the BCB under the stewardship of Keith Foster has written a stern warning to the media fraternity for publication, informing defaulting players of the actions –even though it is not disclosed- that will be taken against them.
Below is the BCB’s stern warning to its sect of players:
“The BCB has taken note of the unbecoming attitude of several Berbice cricketers who leave the county to fulfil cricketing contracts overseas without the courtesy of informing the Board.
Every player in Berbice especially the senior ones are fully aware of the requirements that their current clubs and the BCB must be informed via an official letter which must clearly state, the club that they would be playing overseas with, the country that they would be based in, the length of time to be spent overseas and a contact telephone number.
The BCB has noted that several Berbicians including national and international players have failed to do so and as such the Board would be unable to contact them for any match or programme organised.
Some of these players also show total disrespect to clubs that have invested heavily into their development or at times, showing little regard to affairs of these same clubs.
The BCB would like to inform the guilty players that with immediate effect that any player who leaves Guyana apart from West Indies duties must inform the Board, with the failure to inform both club and the Board, resulting in disciplinary action against them and they would also not be considered for Berbice selection.”
