APOLOGY

The photo we inadvertently published on the front page of yesterday’s Chronicle alongside the caption: ‘Iconic Guyanese artist, sculptor Philip Moore dies at 90’ was not of Mr. Moore but of sculptor Mr. Ivor Thom, who did the statue of Damon.
Moore, the creator of the 1763 Monument (Cuffy) died early Sunday morning at his Lancaster Village, Corentyne, Berbice home. The artist, who was 90 years old at the time of his passing, was being cared for by his son Mr. Phillip Moore Jnr.

We sincerely apologise to the grieving family of Mr. Moore, as well as to Mr. Thom and his family, and all our readers including the several who called or emailed us yesterday, for this blunder.
