Courts woos potential customers with in-store sewing course

COURTS (Guyana) Inc. killed two proverbial birds with one stone on Friday when the furniture giant gifted persons interested in developing their sewing skills with lessons, and simultaneously advertised its line of ‘Janome’ and ‘Brother’ sewing machines with an all-day in-store sewing course. Dubbed ‘Courts Sewing Activation’, the course took place at the Main Street headquarters of the international home furnishing and appliance company’s operations, and was conducted by seamstress Ann Bruce, a fully qualified seamstress who was recommended by Guyana Fashion Weekend CEO, Sonia Noel.
When the Guyana Chronicle visited, all the invitees had not arrived, but were trickling in one by one.
Marketing Officer at Courts, Kester Abrams, said fifteen customers visiting the store during the week were invited for the opportunity to learn basic sewing and cutting skills. These skills, he said, were expected to be utilised for the betterment of their homes and comfort of their families.
Customers were also invited to return to the store to have Mimosas and Champagne the next day, as Courts also had on its schedule a plan to treat the “outgoing fun moms” to a taste of luxurious beverages on their special day.
Other customers were also invited to look on and observe the sewing lessons taking place.
