Trio charged with larceny after stripped car found

THREE men have been charged with simple larceny after parts of a stolen ‘Toyota Carina’ were recovered at the home of one of them. The vehicle was parked on Republic Road, New Amsterdam, when it went missing before the discovery at Chesney Village, Corentyne, some 13 miles away, also in Berbice.
Taxi driver Waylan Jordan, 37, fishermen Stephen Henry, 36 and Terry Henry, 30, all of Lot 6 Kilcoy Village, also at Corentyne, faced a joint charge, on Thursday, which said they stole the vehicle, valued $1.1M, property of Elvis Cummings.
Inspector Jairam Ramlakhan, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant had, on July 8, 2011, left his vehicle on the New Amsterdam Street but did not find it when he returned.
The prosecutor said, acting on information, Cummings, accompanied by a policeman, went to a house at Chesney Front, where he found the car stripped.
After questioning one of the suspects, ranks subsequently arrested the other two.
All three pleaded not guilty to the offence on Thursday and were each ordered by Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo in New Amsterdam Court, to post $100,000 bail each until June 11.
