“CABINET has given the go-ahead for a number of legislation interventions to obtain Cabinet protocol and meet its requirements prior to these bills and regulations becoming Parliament-ready”. This was disclosed by Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon, at his post-Cabinet media briefing, held at the Office of the President yesterday.
In the Home Affairs sector, under traffic, the bill to allow for the renewal of motor vehicle licences on the anniversary date of registration will be dealt with. And in the summary jurisdiction, amendments allowing for tightening up of loose traffic violations by mandatory police and magistrate court collaboration will also be looked at, to ensure compliance with payment of fines and imposition of penalties for not paying, including disqualification from holding licences.
Additionally, amendments to the music and dance licence, to regularise the increase in fees for such licences, will also be presented in Parliament.
In the Children and Family Court section, regularisation of the Adoption of Children 2012, Adoption of Children Rules 2012, Status of Children regulations and Custody Contract, Guardianship and Maintenance of Children will also be dealt with.
The above legislation has got Cabinet’s approval to meet Cabinet’s protocol, and to be ready to be laid in Parliament.
