Defence Counsel Puran cross-examines two Prosecution witnesses
DEFENCE Counsel Vic Puran, for one of the accused in the Neesa Gopaul murder case, had the opportunity to cross-examine two Prosecution witnesses yesterday. Simone De Noberga and Police Detective Superintendent Marlon Chapman were the two who faced the cross-examination.
On the previous occasion, forensic analyst Lorraine Alleyne, from Barbados, was cross-examined by Puran, who is representing the victim’s mother, Bibi Gopaul.
Earlier, Senior Counsel Bernard De Santos, who is defending the other accused, Jarvis Small, had informed the Court that he would not be cross-examining Alleyne nor De Noberga as their testimony only relates to the woman Gopaul.
Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, who is conducting the preliminary inquiry (PI), adjourned the proceedings to tomorrow.
The remains of 16-year-old Neesa Gopaul were found stuffed in a suitcase in Madewini Creek, in the vicinity of Emerald Tower Resort, on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway, on October 2, 2010.
