Is APNU preparing for a snap election?

I had decided not to say anything public, with regard to the 2012 budget catastrophe which has seen the governing PPP/C and opposition parties gambling with the future of youths. However, there are some pointers I would like to highlight. On May 5, while browsing through the television channels, I couldn’t help but notice a campaign advertisement by A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), being consistently aired on HBTV Ch9, citing the need for change. However, I have noticed in the daily and evening newscasts, that a majority vote in the National Assembly has cut subventions for the Elections Commission.
So then, Mr. Editor, how can a democratic country go back to the polls for a snap election, without an announcement/finance by GECOM? Does the ad mean that APNU is preparing for a snap election? Did the President of Guyana make an announcement to the nation with regard to the contrary? Or was the public announcement a common mistake? Or was the governing of the country handed over to the APNU/AFC because they lead the National Assembly opposition side?
If it were indeed, the political parties owe it to the nation to enlighten us (the grassroot levels), what the next step would be, since our future depends on any decisions that are made.
Mr. Editor, I welcome a snap election, if this indeed would be the answer to the problems which plague our society today. However, if this indeed is not the way the country is heading then the APNU should desist from airing such public broadcasts.
