Charlestown drive-by shooting…

Victim was forewarned he was marked for death
AMAN Latchman, a 31-year-old former taxi driver of Howes Street, Charlestown, was gunned down execution-style, allegedly by occupants of a white motor car with tinted windows.
The incident occurred at the corner of Lyng and Sussex Streets in Charlestown, while Latchman was liming with a group of friends on Friday night during a power outage and while it was raining.
The father of three, also known as Randy Persaud, was killed in what appeared to be a drive-by shooting shortly after he had left home, at about 19:30hrs.
Persons close to Lalchand said he was warned of being targeted, and that someone had been paid to kill him. He had been implicated in several robberies, and had been released from jail early last year.
In March 2008, Lalchand had been charged with murdering George Barton, also known as Berlin; but by September 2009, he had been freed, based on no-case submissions in a preliminary inquiry to determine whether he should have faced trial by a judge and jury.
At the man’s residence yesterday, his wife, nursing their four-month-old daughter, was inconsolable and could not speak to the media. She also has a 12-year-old son.
Police report that Aman was outside of a residence in Sussex Street when he was shot to his back. He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC), where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Aman Lalchand would have been 32 years old in July this year. Investigations are in progress.
About a week ago, taxi driver Renie Williams, of Albouystown, was gunned down execution-style in front of his home.
