President should instal IMC for GT

HEAD of FITUG Carvil Duncan on Tuesday called on President Donald Ramotar to instal an Interim Management Committee (IMC) for Georgetown. Addressing workers at the National Park, Duncan singled out Georgetown Mayor Hamilton Green, saying he is unable to manage the city, and that workers of the Mayor & City Council (M&CC) have not been paid for last month, but yet he was marching with APNU in the Labour Day march.
He recommended to President Ramotar, who was also present at the National Park, that an Interim Management Committee should be put in place to run the city, since he has a “moral responsibility to the citizens of Georgetown.”
Mr. President, the people of Guyana, especially those in Georgetown and surrounding areas for too long have been crying for relief from the stench emanating from the incompetence of City Hall led by PNC strongman Hammie Green.
Elections are long overdue to get  rid of this mighty plague that is heaped upon the good citizens of Guyana who pay through their noses for a cleaner environment.
Mr. President, it will take guts to instal an interim management committee, as they will do all in their power to resist such a move.
Therefore, these people must be removed from running this city through the ballot box freely, fairly and transparently.
Now that Guyanese are getting an insight into and a glimpse of how deals are made between politicians, where most are very upset knowing a deal of two billion dollars was on the table for PNC depressed communities.
Guyanese are now awakened to the realities where Lindeners are enjoying the cheapest electricity rates while all others must pay though their noses with hard work, sweat, tears and blood to make up for Lindeners.
Mr. President,  you ought to understand that the more you give into PNC ransom the more they will want and in the end the hard-working Guyanese masses will just throw up their hands and say enough is enough.
Mr. President, the PNC had the first 28 years of illegal rule but did absolutely nothing for the ones they are crying for today.
What the PPP/C Government has done for them the past 20 years is above and beyond  the imagination of any Guyanese and yet these people are crying they are depressed because their leaders told them that they are depressed by the PPP/C Government.
Mr. President, all the honest, hard-working Guyanese are asking for is some fairness and saying no to PNC ransom and no to any backroom secret deals.
Whatever you do it must be announced to all Guyanese, but make no mistake, Sir, there must be elections held to remove the plague that has currently engulfed City Hall before it reaches beyond Georgetown.
The PNC’s plans are to make every black community a depressed community in order to make honest, decent, hard-working Guyanese pay for them through ransom.
Mr. President, your government must wake up to realities of life and see it how others see it, song and dance concerts, sporting events, wearing brand-name stuff, running air-conditions, pressing clothes and washing clothes in washing machines, lighting up their homes day and night, running fridges and microwaves and playing stereo sets are no big deal to these very depressed communities, while other Guyanese cannot afford these luxuries even though they work so hard and so honestly for their living.
