–probably knew his killer
THE DEAD BODY of 43-year-old Bryan Dickson, also known as Son-Son, of Dora, Upper Demerara River, was found on his bed in his one-bedroom rented apartment on the lower flat at Lot 352 East Street, Cummingsburg, Georgetown yesterday. There were several stab wounds about his body.
The dead man had worked in the interior of Guyana as a miner, and was schedule to return there some time yesterday.
Dickson’s body was reportedly discovered by his nephew, Jonathan Dickson.
His reputed wife, Sabrina Gobin, explained that at about 18:50hrs on Wednesday evening, Dickson had spoken to her mother over the phone. She said Dickson’s family members became suspicious after they had received calls from her mother enquiring about the man’s whereabouts, which confirmed to them that Dickson had not been with her and that she, like them, had been trying to make contact with him to no avail.
Ms. Gobin added that her sister-in-law then sent her son over to the house on East Street, where the gruesome discovery was made.
She said Dickson appeared to have been strangled with a piece of cloth. When she visited the scene, the man’s body was covered in blood. She is not aware of her reputed husband having problems with anyone. She was also unaware whether the man had any friends over at his apartment during the preceding night, as he would not usually say whether he was having company.
Gobin said that Dickson had some friends in sections of the city, but she is not sure if anyone of those may have been over at the house during yesterday or last evening.
Gobin is of the view that her reputed husband knew his killer, since there appeared to have been no forced entry into the place. Nothing appeared to be missing from the apartment, and at the time of the discovery, the door to the apartment was ajar.
Gobin said Dickson lived alone at the apartment, while his landlord, a pensioner, lived on the upper flat. She said her childfather had recently been sleeping over at her place in Festival City, North Ruimveldt because her son was recently involved in an accident.
When the Guyana Chronicle visited the scene yesterday afternoon, family members were in the process of clearing out household items from the man’s apartment. The police are said to be investigating the matter. The man, a father of two, leaves to mourn his two children, reputed wife, and other family members.
