NARESH Seepersaud, the man wanted for questioning about the Tuesday arson, that left his wife and five children homeless, remained at large up to press time yesterday. The man fled the scene with a quantity of clothing, having set the two-storey house ablaze after a dispute with his spouse, Swarsattie Motoo, at Lot 3921 Westminster, Phase Two, La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara.
The whole family, originally, occupied the concrete and wooden house but, for the past three years, Seepersaud dwelled upstairs, exclusively, while Mootoo and the children were the lower flat occupants.
Mootoo, tired of being abused by Seepersaud, had approached the court and, last Monday, he had been put on a one year bond, having been convicted on charges of abuse and threatening behaviour.
Mootoo, 31, who operated a small grocery in her downstairs dwelling, said she is determined to start over and will not let the disaster halt progress in her life but she wants Seepersaud brought to justice for depriving her and her children of their little worldly possessions.
The conflagration Tuesday was the second such disaster in the community this month, following the one on April 11, that caused the destruction of a house, also at La Parfaite Harmonie, in which two children were burnt to death.
