THE President’s Youth Award: Republic of Guyana (PYARG) has planned a number of activities across the country for Independence Anniversary and Youth Week. PYARG Field Assistant Officer in Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), Mr. Herald Alves said the programme will be themed ‘Healthy lifestyle, it affects me! Involves me!’
According to him, some of the objectives are to promote healthy life practices and get more young people involved in showing how living that way can improve one’s existence.
Some of the events are a hike, outdoor cooking and a talk on Indian culture and history at Lima Sands on May 1, while May 11 will be a day of interaction and games at Wakapoa Secondary School.
Alves said the programme continues on May 18, with a PYARG inter-secondary schools female softball five overs knockout cricket competition at the New Opportunity Corps (NOC) ground, Onderneeming and the PYARG Inter-Amerindian community females’ five overs softball knockout cricket competition at Capoey Lake on May 27.
He said the third Inter-Secondary Schools impromptu speech and health quiz will be staged on June 1 at Anna Regina Secondary School.
Alves said the PYARG programmes, over the years, were a great success in Region Two, giving young people the opportunity to experience the award scheme in friendly and caring ways.
