JAIGOBIN Madoo (no address given) appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, charged with uttering a forged document. He pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on April 22, at Cheddi Jagan International Airport, he uttered a forged Guyana passport to an immigration officer, knowing it to be a forgery.
Senior Counsel Bernard De Santos, defending the accused, said Madoo is the holder of a valid passport but gave someone to renew and it was only at the airport that he learnt, through the immigration officer, that the travel document was a fake.
Madoo was granted $100,000 bail and the case was transferred to Providence Court, also on East Bank Demerara, for May 21.
