Lindeners must pay what others are paying

THE citizens of Linden are not very extra special people to enjoy low rate electricity than what other citizens of Guyana pay. I can attest to my family using minimum electricity and saw firsthand the monthly cost. One energy saver fridge and one TV at nights for about three hours and one electrical fan at nights to stave off heat and their electricity bill comes to about twelve thousand per month.
On the weekends, they press about six shirts and pants and never use their microwave if not the bill might be double the amount they now pay.
Since a new meter was installed my family went back to hand washing clothes and stopped using their small washing machine.
I saw the eye of that meter one morning spinning like crazy and there was only the fridge running.
I told my family that something is terribly wrong with this meter and to report it to GPL.
GPL came and looked at it but said that’s how the meter runs and there is nothing they can do about it.
So my family is left stuck with their monthly bill using minimum electricity.
At five dollars per kwh, Lindeners enjoy, my family would love to pay that to GPL too.
You see my family and many other Guyanese are not that special as Lindeners.
In my opinion, if one pays five dollar per kwh, then all Guyanese must enjoy same.
If other Guyanese are paying sixty four dollars per kwh, then Lindeners must pay same.
Next, Lindeners will want free water and pay no vat on goods and pay no taxes on wages?
Let them protest within the law since that’s their democratic right, but in the end Lindeners must pay what others are paying.
