Rupert Hubert of Montrose, East Coast Demerara was yesterday charged with two counts of using threatening language at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court.
It is alleged that on April 9 and 10, at Montrose, the man made use of threatening language to Priya Boodhram. He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was placed on $5,000 bail.
He will return to court on April 27.
Boodhram claimed that she was taking a shower when Hubert pulled open the shower curtain and stood staring at her. She claimed this upset her, and she complained to her elder sister, who is the daughter-in-law of the defendant.
All the family members in the house advised that she report the matter to the police.
Upon informing the defendant that she was going to report him, the man started hurling threats at the woman telling her that he will slit her throat because she likes to talk.
The defendant however claimed that he never said anything of that sort, and that his family is making allegations against him because they want to put him out of the house.
