Moses has lost his way
–         Now a self-confessed child-abuser
MOSES Nagamootoo, in Parliament yesterday, showed his true colours in many ways, especially when he confessed to cursing his grandson when the child bothers him with repeated questions. He admitted to shouting at the child, saying “shut yo so and so mouth”. To those who knows Nagamootoo’s history it is a sad picture to see his descent from the glorious to the vainglorious; but he barefacedly continues to peddle his lies, half-truths and conspiracy theories in the name of Dr. Cheddi Jagan, quoting Nadira Jagan-Brancier that the Jagans must be turning in their graves.
Yet it was the Jagans who moulded the PPP/C leaders, even the younger ones; and it was the matriarch of the nation, Mrs. Janet Jagan, who chose Bharrat Jagdeo over Moses Nagamootoo to be her successor. Is Mrs. Brancier saying that her mother was foolish? Or her father, because he had hand-picked Bharrat Jagdeo to drive the financial turnaround of this nation; and it was under a Jagan watch that Donald Ramotar became Dr. Jagan’s successor as General Secretary of the PPP, thus paving the way to succeeding Bharrat Jagdeo as President.
Dr. Jagan was very lucid before he died and if he had intended Nagamootoo to become President he would have so indicated; but neither he nor Mrs. Jagan wanted Nagamootoo, whom they knew well and could judge whether he was leadership material or not; but they were the ones who cast him aside.
Yesterday, in the National Assembly, Nagamootoo shamelessly used the name of Dr. Jagan repeatedly to make points to prove Dr. Jagan’s team of chosen leaders were not living up to the legacy of the Father of the Nation, when he knew quite well what the state of the country was pre-1992 and what it is today.
He, more than most, knows of Guyana’s dark past under the PNC, with which he is today sleeping. He should not be named Moses, but re-christianed ‘Judas’, because he has surely lost his way in this garden and has betrayed the man whom he claims to revere – Dr. Cheddi Jagan, whose legacy he is trying to destroy, along with the proven enemies of the country, who even once threatened his own life.
Moses of the Old Testament led his people out of bondage, but Moses Nagamootoo has lost his way and is trying to once again lead the Guyanese people into the bondage of the past era under his new bedmates – the PNC.
