BEFORE Sparendaam Magistrate Alex Moore yesterday, Soordat Sam (no address given) pleaded guilty to obstructing the free flow of traffic by stopping his motor vehicle in the middle of the Mon Repos Public Road, East Coast Demerara, to let someone disembark on April 7 last. He, however, explained to the court that there was no parking space close to where the passenger had wanted to disembark, so he just stopped for a minute, not realising the extent of the traffic build-up behind his vehicle.
Notwithstanding his explanation, he was fined $15,000, and was strongly cautioned about the seriousness of his offence.
