FORMER Member of Parliament, Mr. Lloyd Pereira was re-elected as Toshoa of Wakapoa Village in Upper Pomeroon, Region 2 (Pomeroon/Supenaam).
His unanimous re-election by villagers took place on April 4 in Wakapoa Primary School. Elections for Councillors and Captains of the nine Amerindian communities in the region are currently in progress, being conducted by the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs and the Regional Democratic Council (RDC).
A release from the Regional Administration said Akawini election was held yesterday while that for St. Monica is scheduled for April 11; Kabakaburi April 12; Bethany April 17; Mashabo April 18; Capoey April 19; St. Deny’s (Tapakuma) April 23 and Mainstay/Whyaka April 25.
Nine councilors will be elected for each Village Council.
