Linden Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ …

Goals fest highlights second night of action
TWENTY-NINE goals were scored on the first night, followed by another 28 on the second night, when action in the second annual Banks DIH-sponsored Linden Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ competition continued at the Silver City Hard Court Tuesday night.
Leading the way were El Dorado and Rough and Rugged, who both defeated $100 Car Park and South Stars 5-1 and 5-2 respectively, while Retrieve Unknown’s Darrel George joined Kwesi Johnson as the tournament’s fastest goalscorers when he struck in the first minute of his team’s 3-0 win over Barsenal.
The night’s action commenced with Coomacka United who, through goals from Adrian Edmundson (3rd, 15th) and Keiron Daw (16th), defeated Exodus 3-1 with Dorwin Daw finding the back of the net for the losers after Daw’s strike.
In the second game, El Dorado with strikes from I. Webster (6th and 10th ), A. Lambert (8th), A. Johnson (17th ) and K .Cole (19th), defeated $100 Car Park 5-2, with James Lewis (13th ) and K. D’Andrade (15th) scoring for the losing side.
Thanks to Clifford Halley’s 17th-minute strike, Wash Boys were able to defeat Cherokee Park 1-0 in their encounter which was followed by Rough and Rugged’s 5-1 demolition of South Stars, in which O. Mitchell (8th and 10th), T. Wilson (6th), D. Johnson (9th) and A. Wills (13) were the goalscorers for the victors. M. Wilson found the net for the losers in the 7th minute.
Having ended last year’s tournament as runners-up to Eagles, Retrieve Unknown started this year’s campaign in style with a 3-0 victory over Barsenal, with George scoring a brace in the 1th and 19th minutes respectively and Dwayne McKinnon adding his own in the 13th.
Street Vybz and Hi-Stars played to a 1-1 draw, with Jason Allicock and Gordon Pollard finding the back of the net for their respective teams while Hard Knocks also drew 1-1 with Trainline Warriors, Adswell Benjamin and Marley Major being the respective goalscorers.
In the final game of the night, Half Mile/One Mile, through goals from Steve Brewley (3rd and 17th) and Charles Harvey 17th, defeated Scheme 3-0.
The action continues Saturday night from 18:0hrs with the following matches at the New Silvercity Secondary School hard court: The Amazing opposing Exodus, Top Class facing El Dorado, Rough and Rugged going up against Speightland, Pokerburg meeting Cherokee Park, Goal Getters taking on Scheme, Eagles confronting Trainline Warriors, Star Boyz clashing with Street Vybz and Ripping Bulls matching skills with Barsena.
