Chanderpaul makes steady movement in Test rankings

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (CMC) – Veteran West Indies left-hander Shivnarine Chanderpaul has continued to make steady progress up the ICC Test batting rankings.
The 37-year-old, who has played an amazing 137 Tests, has moved two places up the table to sixth, in the latest rankings released yesterday.
Chanderpaul will have the chance to further improve on this ranking as he is expected to suit up for West Indies against Australia in the three-Test series starting next week.
The Guyanese, however, is the only batsman in the top 10 with elegant left-hander Darren Bravo unmoved at number 20, while there are no West Indians in the top 20 of the bowlers’ rankings, with speedster Fidel Edwards the highest placed at 24th  and medium pacer Darren Sammy 25th.
Meanwhile, South African AB de Villiers has moved into the top spot in the batting rankings for the first time in his career and has been joined by Australia captain Michael Clarke.
de Villiers jumped four places while Clarke moved up two, to be locked in the number one position, while another South African in fast bowler Dale Steyn is unmoved at the top of the bowlers’ rankings.
