– say organisation keen on supporting Gov’t priorities
COUNTRY Director for Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) in Guyana, Kim West, and Regional Director for VSO in Latin America and the Caribbean, Kieran Breen, yesterday called on President Donald Ramotar. In an invited comment subsequent to the meeting, West explained that her organisation is very keen on supporting Government’s priorities, and as such, they work to ensure that the focus of the volunteers is also in line with these priorities.
VSO Guyana was re-established in 1989, in response to the needs of the nation. The programme has developed in a diverse manner, with volunteer placements in areas of health, education, technology, natural resource management, business, and social and community development.
The volunteers live and work in ways which are sensitive to the cultural values of others. VSO Guyana has volunteers working in Regions 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 and 10. (GINA)
