FITUG launches fortnightly TV series

THE Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Guyana (FITUG) , the country’s largest  trade union  umbrella grouping, is launching a fortnightly television series titled ‘The FITUG Workers Forum’. According to a press release issued by FITUG yesterday, the programme is intended to re-introduce the federation to the Guyanese public and all Guyanese workers, as it was observed that most Guyanese workers are not unionised.
“This is one of the several issues to be deliberated on during the series,” the release stated.
Media facilitator, Allan A. Fenty, will moderate the first set of programmes.
The programmes will be broadcast on the National Communications Network on Tuesdays at 18:30hrs. FITUG office-bearers and their respective unions will be introduced.
In addition to a segment titled “Current Burning Issues”, it is intended that some programmes will be aired live to invite public participation, the release added.
A few segments will also be taped in Berbice and Essequibo, to deal with specific issues.
