4 years jail for duo who robbed New Amsterdam beauty parlours

FELONS Radesh Garib and Claude Howard, 40, both of Timmers Dam, Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, were each sentenced to four year imprisonment by Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo, after they pleaded guilty to two counts of breaking and entering and larceny committed on beauty parlours in the Berbice Township. Police Corporal Roberto Figueira, prosecuting, informed the court that between March 9 and 10, the duo, broke and entered the Tessa Hair Salon, owned by Tessa Trim, and stole a generator, a quantity of DVDs and hair products, all valued at $360,000.
During the same period they forcefully entered the nearby Five Star Salon and Nail Shop, owned by Melissa April, at Church Street, in New Amsterdam, and there they stole an air brush compressor, an electric shaving set, sneakers and other boots, several jerseys, a quantity of briefs, iPods, two dozen bottles of shampoo and conditioners, several bottles of body wash and shower gels, all valued at $142,000.
The magistrate imposed a two year sentence on each count, which will run concurrently.
