REGION 2 Chairman Parmanand Persaud thanked United States of America VSO member Ms Megan Wagner for contributing to Guyana’s development in the field of education during the last two years. Mr. Persaud met the VSO while visiting the Ulily Primary School at Karawab, Upper Pomeroon River on Thursday. He said Ms. Wagner had given invaluable service to the country’s education development in the hinterland areas, especially at Karawab, and her service was of an excellent standard. He thanked her for coming to Guyana and teaching Guyanese children.
Ms. Wagner, who will be leaving Guyana shortly for her homeland, said she enjoyed her stay in Guyana, and was happy to serve at Karawab. She said that during the two years, she taught reading, literacy, English and health at the primary school, and she feels students have learnt a lot, and are doing much better in the various subjects.
She said she has also learnt a lot from the community, and residents have learnt from her. Another US VSO member will replace her.
