Sonia Noel hosts week-long ‘Fashion Fiesta’
-event celebrates 15 years in fashion
NOTED Guyanese designer Sonia Noel is continuing the year-long celebration of her fifteenth year in the fashion industry. In an effort to reward her regular customers, and to show prospective customers what it means to be a client of her “Mariska’s Designs” line of clothing, Noel will be hosting a week-long ‘Fashion Fiesta’ — from Saturday, March 17th until Saturday, March 24th — at her store at Lot 176 Barr Street Kitty, Georgetown.
Both male and female customers are invited to view the 2012 catalogue, and to get a sneak peak at one of Noel’s newest projects. She promises great prices, and lucky customers can walk away with outfits for as little as Gy$2000.
Patrons should also be sure to secure a Mariska’s Designs Member’s Card, which will offer special benefits to cardholders, such as instant discounts and previews to all future collections.
Noel’s store will also offer a rental service, allowing persons to take away a selected outfit from the rental section for a fee, and return same on an agreed date.
Last Friday, she officially launched her new line, titled “Fusion”, on the NCN Network on the ‘Guyana Today’ programme. The line is aptly named, as the collection features a mixture of different styles for a cross section of persons with different body types, all wanting elegant looks and a sense of timeless style.
Fusion features ponchos that can be easily accessorised with a leggings and belt; wrinkle free resort dresses that are ready to wear right out of a suit case; casual, eye catching outfits for a simple lunch or day trip; and elegant dresses that are perfect for a formal party.
The “Fusion” line pays special attention to the needs of males, and contains shirts, shorts and slacks that cater to the debonair gentleman.
At Guyana Fashion Weekend 2010, Noel launched “C-Line”, which featured more conservative clothing suited for church. The “Fusion” line also contains elements of the “C-Line” expression.
The designer will be offering wardrobe tips after the launch — from the 17th to 24th March — at her Barr Street, Kitty location, as the celebration continues.
What’s next for Noel? The Guyana Model Search/Designers’ Portfolio Show is on the top of her to-do list, and she assures that it will be the best season yet, as some major partners have already started coming on board to support the venture.
