RDC agrees to issue councillors identification badges
MEMBERS of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) in Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) will soon be issued with identification badges, it was agreed at the statutory meeting on Tuesday. People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) Councillor Farouk Khan said the tags will positively identify councillors at Government offices, on projects, at schools and other public and private places.
Consequently, he advised all councillors to, at all times, conduct themselves in a very respectable manner and not be bullyish or arrogant.
Regional Chairman Parmanand Persaud said all councilors, prior to visiting Government offices, schools, health centres, hospitals or other public places, should seek permission from the Regional Executive Officer (REO) before proceeding.
He said the means of identity will put councillors more in the spotlight to meet with members of the public.
