ACTING Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Georgetown Mayor and City Council (M&CC), Mr. Junior Garrett said yesterday that the 2012 Municipal Budget will be presented today. He made the disclosure in response to an inquiry from this newspaper, pointing out that it is the final aspect of his presentation that will be done today.
Garrett said he attempted to present the budgetary proposals to the statutory meeting on Monday but was prevented from completing his delivery due to lack of a quorum.
According to him, the claim that there were still some liabilities outstanding was denied by Town Clerk, Yonnette Pluck, who said there was none and a number of councillors walked out of the Council Chamber, at City Hall.
Garrett said he will, however, complete his presentation at City Hall today and put it to the public after.
He had said the procedure is for the proposals to be sent to the Council, first, then to the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development and promised to have them ready by early February, after, previously, giving a January 31 deadline.
