JERMAINE Lewis (no address given) appeared before Magistrate Allan Wilson yesterday, charged with break and enter and larceny. He pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, between January 25 and 26, at Port Kaituma Waterfront, North West Distrtict, he broke and entered the boutique of Maria Manie and stole a quantity of items valued a total of $237,500.
Police Corporal, Jairam Luckhai, prosecuting, successfully objected to bail and Lewis was remanded to prison until May 2.
The prosecutor said, if Lewis was allowed pre-trial liberty, he would not return for trial.
However, Keron Williams (no address given), shared a different fate on a similar charge.
He, too, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Wilson, denying that between March 8 and 9, also at Port Kaituma Waterfront, he broke and entered Room Two of Antonio Da Silva’s Hotel and stole one cell phone valued $46,000, property of Avlan Klass.
Williams was granted $30,000 bail and his case will be called, again, on May 2, too.
