It was reported that Sasechand, 49, of La Belle Alliance, also on Essequibo Coast, was attacked by two masked, armed men who tied him up with a piece of rope.
Speaking from his Suddie Public Hospital bed, he said his assailants were armed with cutlasses and, as he shouted for help, both of them chopped him about his head and body.
He said his colleague on the same shift at the western section heard his shouts and rushed to his aid as his attackers escaped empty handed.
The police at Anna Regina were informed and responded promptly, so the bandits did not get to commit any burglary.
Acting Town Clerk, Ms. Diana Critchlow said a meeting with the guards will be convened to look at the security system in the markets.
