NEW champions will be crowned tonight when the NaMilCo Football Festival which is hosted by the Fruta Conquerors culminates with the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and Beacon United contesting the final for top honours at the Tucville Playfield from 21:00hrs. Prior to the final, the third place playoff between Fruta Conquerors and Sunburst Camptown in another ‘Clash of the Juices’ match, will kick off at 19:00hrs with the winners of this encounter receiving $200 000 and the losers $100 000, while the overall champions will walk away with G$1M and the losers half of that amount.
Individual prizes such as Most Valuable Player (MVP), Best Goalkeeper, Most Disciplined Team and Highest Goalscorer are up for grabs, with Fruta Conquerors’ Pernell Shultz leading the goal tally with three goals, followed by Sunburst Camptown’s Devon Ford and GDF’s Delwin Fraser who have two goals each.
Beacon United’s route to the final came at the expense of Northern Rangers who lost 4-0; Sunburst Camptown in a penalty shootout and the Alpha United’s withdrawal which paved the way for that club to secure a place in tonight’s feature.
On the other side of the match-up, GDF defeated Black Pearl 4-2, Santos 1-0 and tournament favourites Fruta Conquerors 1-0 as they marched into the finals.

According to a release from the executives of the organising club, members from both the Government and the Opposition are expected to be present at the finals and fans are reminded that an entrance fee of $1 000 will be charged for those desirous of witnessing the night’s action.
