Ali, 64, viciously mauled by pitbulls

MOBARAK Ali, 64, who was attacked and mauled by two ferocious pitbulls on Monday morning, while on his way to the Kitty Masjid for prayers, has been warded at the Georgetown Public Hospital. He was badly disfigured in the vicious attack by the dogs, and rushed to the GPH, with his left hand almost severed at the wrist, and slashes about the arm.
He underwent emergency surgery and doctors managed to save the arm, which was the main target of the dogs’ attack.
Following the operation, Mobarak spent the next two days in the Intensive Care Unit and was transferred to the Male Surgical Ward on Wednesday.
Now in a stable condition, yesterday he recounted the gruelling ordeal in which he was almost killed by the two huge, ferocious dogs.
Speaking from his hospital bed, he recalled, “They jumped on me, threw me down and had me rolling on the ground for about ten minutes.” He said that when the dogs tasted his blood, they went wild, and were bent on making a meal of him.
Meanwhile, he kept screaming for help, but no one immediately heard, until about ten minutes later.  A woman ran out to his rescue and threw water on the dogs.
After being drenched with water, the dogs left him and went farther up the road where they killed another dog.
