THE People’s Progressive Party extends best wishes to all Guyanese on the occasion of the 42nd Anniversary of the Republic.
This Republic Day finds Guyanese in a very healthy position, generally.
Our economy has been growing steadily and our people’s standard of living has been improving constantly. The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is bigger than ever before, the per capita income has risen considerably over the years that the PPP/C has been in office.
More Guyanese now have the security of owning their own homes, and they have seen great improvement in their material conditions.
The PPP/C administration has also enhanced its strong position in promoting equality among our people.  Education services are now more widely available, as is the quality and quantity of health.
The PPP/C position of ensuring that all families have access to the most modern tools – the laptop computer is most advanced and visionary. “The One Laptop per Family” is a programme that gives practical existence to our philosophy of equal opportunity to all.
Over the years our country has progressed greatly.  However, our best days are ahead of us.
At the moment, it there is great optimism that we will become an oil producing nation in the near future.  It is also expected that we would be a leader in the production of manganese and other precious metals.
Guyanese are a very hard working and innovative people.  Clearly, with this talented people, we will be able to really put our country among the most prosperous in the world.
