THE Guyana Badminton Association (GBA) in association with the National Sports Commission (NSC) commenced the Junior Mashramani Badminton tournament at the Queen’s College Badminton Courts, last Friday. The tournament attracted players from different schools, in the girls and boys categories from under-13 to open, thus giving the GBA a good turn-out of players at this annual event.
On Friday, in the Under-13 Girls Singles, Elmira Persaud defeated Aliyah Seeram 21-8, 21-9 and Kara Abrams defeated Cindy Sookwah 21-3, 21-6 ,while in the Under-13 Boys Singles, Jonathan Mangra defeated Omari Joseph 21-17, 21-15.
The Under-15 Boys Singles saw Josh Oodit defeat Jonathan Persaud 21-17, 21-17 and Omari Joseph defeated Diante Callender 21-19, 23-21.
Finally, the Under-15 Girls Singles saw Priyanna Ramdhani defeat Ariane Kayume 21-10, 21-5; Nadine Jairam defeated Kara Abrams 21-3, 21-6, Varsha Boodram defeated Jea Ramsammy 21-10, 21-12; Ambika Ramraj defeated Crystal Dey 21-5, 21-2.
