GABA season starts today

THE 2012 Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) season will commence today at the Burnham Court, with the bouncing off of their league tournament, which has attracted 15 teams from Georgetown and its environs to do battle for cash and other equipment which will go to the top four teams. According to Vice-president of GABA, Kester Gomes, the league will commence as GABA needs to see its players active. A sponsor will be announced later since the finalisation of the sponsorship package has not yet been confirmed from a number of interested parties and business entities.
‘We are busy working to seal the sponsorship deal with a number of businesses and companies, since they have given us verbal confirmation and we need to sign and seal that confirmation to move forward.
“However we have committed ourselves, executives and affiliates to commence today and we will do so with the players’ interest in mind,” stated Gomes.
Jump-ball in the first matchup between Pepsi Sonics and Eagles is at 18:00hrs, followed by the Maccabees versus Nets encounter at 20:00hrs while tomorrow’s action will see Melanie Patriots take on Plaisance Guardian from 16:00hrs, followed by the West Side Jammers and Panthers encounter from 18:00hrs.
