THE prosecution is alleging that the two accused — Burt Lancaster, called ‘Moses’, and Daywan Kawal (convicted of manslaughter) — had allegedly murdered taxi driver Deonarine Sukhdeo and had benefited from his car. Assistant Police Superintendent, Mr. Errol Watts said he was in his office on a particular day when the two accused were brought in to see him. He said he did not ask them any questions, but they told him about a car licence, a tape deck and other items, about which they gave statements.
Other witnesses said that, once on the trail, Daywan Kawal and Burt Lancaster used a weapon to inflict injuries on Deonarine Sukhdeo. They then robbed him of his car and cell phone, and left the injured Deonarine on the trail.
The hearing continues this morning before Justice Dawn Gregory.
Attorney-at-Law, Basil Williams is appearing for Lancaster.
