THE overseer of Annandale/Riverstown Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC), Mr. Dhaniram Singh has disclosed that the local authority has a new dumpsite for garbage disposal. The 25 acres plot is located deep in Onderneeming Sands area on Essequibo Coast but is accessible by road.
Singh said the NDC will now be collecting garbage from residents within the area for a small fee.
According to him, a private contactor has been hired to collect the waste on a daily basis.
He said the collection from Suddie Hospital, not including sharps (needles etc) and Suddie Market will be disposed of daily at the new location.
Singh appealed to residents not to discard plastic bottles and other containers in the waterways or on the road shoulders.
Regional Vice-Chairman, Mr. Vishnu Samaroo and a high level team recently visited and inspected the new dumpsite.
