IT is time for the Guyanese population to be made aware of the power of collective consciousness. Simply put, the collective consciousness of a nation refers to the beliefs, concepts, and ideas firmly held as being true by the majority of people in a nation. Here is how the collective consciousness works: if about 51% of the people in Guyana firmly hold the belief and conviction (as truth) that the nation of Guyana will be better off without a PPP/Civic government, this then becomes the prevailing, collective consciousness of the nation, the normative, accepted idea. What happens next is that this collective consciousness becomes a magnet drawing in events, circumstances, organisations, and people to give reality and tangibility to what previously existed only in the sphere of abstract ideas, concepts, beliefs, and convictions. In other words, things will happen to successfully bring about the removal of the PPP/Civic government from power.
On the other hand, if about 51% of the people in Guyana firmly hold the belief and conviction (as truth) that the nation of Guyana will best be able to chart a course of unity, national development, and prosperity with a PPP/Civic government in office, this then becomes the prevailing, collective consciousness of the nation, which then becomes the normative, accepted idea. What happens next is that this collective consciousness begins to act as a magnet drawing in, this time, events, circumstances, organisations, and people to give reality and tangibility to what previously existed only in the sphere of abstract ideas, concepts, beliefs, and convictions. In other words, things will happen to ensure that a PPP/Civic government retains governance of Guyana.
It should be pointed out that the collective consciousness of a nation is not influenced by “gaffe”, “old talk”, or even ballots cast at an election. The collective consciousness of a nation transcends these “indicators of intention”. It goes deep down into the realms of each person’s sincerely held core beliefs and truthful convictions – where lying to yourself becomes impossible – and responds to your true feelings. Remember: People could say one thing, do another, and really believe something else!
With this background, we can now look with fresh eyes at the situation in Guyana. “Someone” who knows how the collective consciousness works is centrally directing events and incidents aimed at manipulating the thought processes of the average Guyanese, so that about 51% of the people will embrace, fully accept, and believe as truth the postulate that a PPP/Civic government is not the best thing for Guyana. And the familiar weapon of thought and idea manipulation – the media – is being skilfully, though not exclusively, employed. This is what is really meant by the phrase “the battle for hearts and minds”. This is code for employing methods, techniques, and technologies aimed at influencing the collective consciousness of a target population. (Believe it or not, this knowledge and attendant techniques are being exploited increasingly by developed nations that have certain agendas.)
The fact that the PPP/Civic government is still the government of the nation of Guyana shows clearly that what is the true state of the collective consciousness of the Guyanese nation – AT THIS PRESENT TIME! National reality always reflects the true state of a nation’s collective consciousness – regardless of what people are saying!
Finally, Guyanese should also be aware that ideas and concepts which sincerely promote co-operation, unity, and integration in a spirit of amity exert a greater influence on the collective consciousness than do ideas and concepts that are really aimed at creating and sustaining division and separation. One candle lit in a stadium filled with darkness drives away all the darkness. Similarly, a small percentage of Guyanese – actually about 15% – sincerely and truthfully aspiring for the unity and harmony of the major race groups in Guyana can trigger an exponential shift in the collective consciousness.  What will happen next is that the will of the collective consciousness becomes manifest – in a relatively short period of time – in the real, tangible world. And only the government whose foundational philosophy is in concordance with the collective consciousness will be in office.
The destiny of Guyana truly lies in the hearts and minds of all Guyanese. We, the Guyanese people, have the power to mould that destiny the way we want it. We have only ourselves to blame or praise for whatever happens, for we will have created it.
