THE Court of Appeal of Guyana yesterday refused Lionel Jaikarran and Chetram Singh, in their capacity as trustees of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), leave to appeal the dismissal by the Full Court, of their motion to have the decision of the Hon. Minister Frank Anthony to establish an Interim Management Committee (IMC) quashed. The Court heard arguments from Counsel for Jaikarran and Singh, but eventually ruled that the nature of the proceedings before the Full Court was ‘ex parte’ (by or for one party), and therefore its ruling could not be considered to be final and capable of being appealed to the Court of Appeal, as is specifically prohibited by the Court of Appeal Rules contained within Cap. 3:01 of the Laws of Guyana.
