The people need protection

NO one can blame fishermen for demanding guns to protect themselves.
A point and time will eventually come when all citizens of Guyana will make these same demands.
Word out on the street is that citizens are more afraid of police and army people than  criminals.
There has to be well coordinated  efforts with security forces in order for most of these brazen attacks to be carried out on innocent citizens.
Citizens read the news and citizens watched TV and how many times it has been reported by citizens who called 911 only to find out 911 is busy.
Or, when 911 has answered, police say only one police officer here, or police have no vehicles to attend, while innocent citizens are being brutalised and terrorised by notorious criminals.
How many times citizens read the news or watched TV only to be told the police arrived  after bandits had already  carried out their brutal and brazen robberies on innocent citizens?
How many times citizens read the news or watched TV about police in shoot out with bandits only to be told no one was injured but the bandits “escaped”
How much longer should citizens keep on appealing to those in authority for help to save their lives and property?
In my opinion, all law-abiding citizens who want  to protect their lives, property and family must be fully trained to use guns, and guns must be issued to those trained persons only.
Citizens must be now allowed to protect themselves from these scourges of society, if not they will be like sitting ducks.
