COURTS, FFP collaborate to comfortably house disabled couple

COURTS (Guyana) Inc, through its sports club, donated a living room suite to Ms. Ruth Bart and her reputed husband, Mr. Laurie Greenidge, two senior citizens faced with physical and financial difficulties. The handing over took place at the company’s Main Street, Georgetown store on  Wednesday, in the presence of Club President, Mr. Ricardo Manbodh, Vice-President, Mr. Ryan Gittens and Secretary, Ms. Kayann Moore.
Upon receipt of the gift, Greenidge, who is President of the Federation of the Disabled Society, expressed his sincere thanks and heartfelt gratitude to the COURTS staff, also on behalf of Bart.
Asked what else the couple lacked in the house, she said a bed would be very much appreciated as the one they have is several years old. They were given a positive response to expect more help from COURTS.
Manbodh said, as it has been a while since their last donation, this time will be the perfect opportunity to assist another citizen in need of help and COURTS is honouring its pledge to fulfil its corporate responsibility and stand true to the mission of ‘Bringing value home.’
Meanwhile, Food for the Poor (FFP) had gifted a house to the couple, who had been living at Friendship, East Coast Demerara, in a rented property, where they were unable to reside happily, being physically incapable of coping with the related financial obligation.
They made an application to the benefactor five years ago and the building was constructed for them but it was unfurnished and lacked lavatory facilities.
However, with help from charitable organisations, they were able to build and install the necessary facilities to own a place of peaceful residence.
