ORLANDO Jordan, 19, was sentenced to three years imprisonment and fined $30,000 yesterday, for being in possession of eight grammes of cannabis (marijuana). He appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and pleaded guilty to the charge, which said he committed the offence on February 7.
The prisoner (no address given) told the court he used the narcotic to smoke.
Before sentencing him, the magistrate took into consideration that he saved time by admitting his guilt but noted the aggravating factors, such as, that he is old enough to know the consequence of his actions and the prevalence of the crime.
