Consecutive prison sentences for damaging property, threatening

EIGHTEEN-YEAR-OLD Dellon Joseph, of Lot 3726 North Ruimveldt, Georgetown appeared before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell yesterday, charged with damage to property and threatening behaviour. He pleaded guilty to both charges, one of which said, on February 4, he unlawfully and maliciously damaged a number of utensils, two cordless phones and other things, all worth $63,000, property of Sheila Joseph.
Particulars of the other charge said, the same day, he made use of threatening language to Joseph, thereby breaching the peace.
The defendant, who sobbed throughout his court appearance, was sentenced to three months imprisonment for the damage and six months for the threat and the magistrate ordered that the sentences run consecutively.
The virtual complainant was offered compensation by a relative of the prisoner but she refused the offer, staying that Joseph threatened to kill her and her husband and vowed to harm them once he is out of jail.
Magistrate Lovell cautioned the convict to understand that his choices have consequences and he cannot behave as he pleases.
